I'm not sure why I've felt compelled to take on another project! But developing a 'name' for the type of horsemanship I now 'do' came to me recently so I decided to act on it.
I guess it will be a way to document and record the way I interact with my horses (and other equine friends) now, which has changed a lot from the 20 years of studying Parelli Natural Horsemanship and the 24 years prior of participating in traditional horsemanship.
Why the name EquiFriendship? - well Equi means equal and my goal is to have friendship with my horses be an equal one.
I treat my horses like they are my best friend - so 'asking' instead of telling (unless they do something that puts me or us in danger and then like I would with a friend, I say no!), and allowing my horses to have an opinion too.
I'll be writing more on this in a future article but would love to hear how you see your equine friendships, and what boundaries you have or don't have :)
If you have any ideas, thoughts or questions, feel free to contact me or visit the EquiFriendship Facebook page and post them there. Lets see EquiFriendship grow :)
